‘The sharing of fine food with friends is part of the soul of what we do here at Buon Ricordo’ explains Chef Armando Percuoco. It is the very reason that we were so happy to support Table4Ten and the work they do in raising funds and awareness for the fight against prostate cancer. I am so delighted that so many of Sydney’s finest restaurants have joined us in this important cause. Now - as we see Table4Ten spread to other cities, I am so encouraged to see that not only is the word getting out but that it is being received with just as much enthusiasm as it is in Sydney. We have always felt that around a table of friends is a great way to start those important conversations that matter to us all. And for us to see that the funds raised are directly helping men and their families affected by prostate cancer makes us pleased that Buon Ricordo is part of this event. Armando, the founding Patron Chef for Table4Ten, is a passionate, and a long - term valued supporter of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA).Armando, at the age of 14, began working in his family’s restaurant in Naples, and was encouraged by his father to work for other restaurateurs. He came to Australia in 1972 and joined his father, Mario, at Arriverderci in East Sydney. Seven years later, he and his father opened Pulcinella restaurant in Kings Cross where he established his reputation amongst Sydney diners for both his food and his ability to create a vibrant dining atmosphere. In 1986 Armando published his first cookbook, “Modern Italian Cooking”; followed in 1994 by La Cucina Italian: The Four Seasons of Italian Cooking. Last year he released his latest book “How to make your home a great restaurant”. In 1987 Armando opened Buon Ricordo in Paddington, which has gone on to become a landmark of the Sydney dining scene. Armando’s strong principles of service and excellence permeate everything he does. He champions the return to classical Italian cuisine. His menu includes cucina povera – the food of the poor – unpretentious dishes that shirk flamboyance for emphasis on flavour and taste. At all stages Armando has given his time, energy, culinary expertise and his extraordinary joie de vivre to work with the Table4Ten Committee to create an event that is developing to be a calendar landmark event across Australia. Armando - truly one of Sydney’s great contributors.
